Alyssa began her broadcast career at a very young age. In 2004, after graduating the 8th grade she was offered a position to be an Oak Forest High School reporter. During that assignment she was discovered by Oak Forest City Hall Representative Colleen Julian and the “Views of the News” television host Lyida Ponczak. Alyssa was offered an appearance. During her appearance on the show they covered her recent achievements that included: Dream Girls Illinois Teen Miss, National Overall Entertainer, and Gold Medalist in the World Championships of Performing Artists for dance.
In 2006, Oak Forest City Hall approached her about covering local events outside of the high school news. At this point Alyssa appeared on two local channels, both OFC-TV and CIC-TV. She covered city events that included: The Community Awareness Fair, Tax Talk with city officials, Summer Festivals, interviews with Fire Chief, Mayor, Public Works officals, and many more.
Alyssa graduated high school early in 2007 and was accepted to Columbia College Chicago, as a Broadcast Journalism major. Her main focus is on hard news and overseas correspondence. Her dream is to work for a top Chicago News Network and eventually CNN.
Alyssa’s first internship was with NC-TV 17 in Naperville. Executive Producer Liz Spencer had Alyssa in her television production class and asked Alyssa to join the team. Alyssa says she learned the most with this company and would love to work with them after graduating Columbia College in 2012.
In 2010 Alyssa accepted the Co-host roll on The Man Card Crew. Although it is way short of a hard news story it will provide great exposure and on screen TV experience for her future endeavors.
